iPod Speakers: Living Loud

AUTHOR: Kevin Bailey

IPod Speakers
One of the primary ways to listen to music via your iPod is through a set of earphone headphones. This is great, because you don’t have to accommodate anyone else’s musical tastes – you can listen to the type of music you want, when you want. However, iPods are designed with such fantastic sound quality that there may come a time when you will choose to share the music with others around you, making your iPod all the more versatile. This is when you want to look into purchasing some iPod speakers.

The first place to learn what’s available is on Apple itself. The experts who designed the iPod itself surely know what features to include in iPod speakers. They have created what may be the ultimate stereo system for your iPod: the iPod Hi-Fi. This offers “seamless integration” – which is different than just hooking up your iPod to any old set of speakers. The iPod Hi-Fi allows you to personalize it to match your music. You can customize the Normal, Treble Boost and Bass Boost settings. This way the tones are perfect given the environment you find yourself in at any given time. This product includes a dock adapter so you can plug it into the Universal Dock, where it will charge your iPod too.

Stay Portable

The iPod’s advantage is that it’s so small and portable. Adding iPod speakers could compromise this, but one company has found an exceptional solution: Logitech. For around $150, you can buy their portable iPod speakers which come with an iPod dock, a remote control, a port to connect to your computer, and an internal rechargeable battery. It’s a lot of functions in a small, portable package – just like the iPod.

Especially created for the iPod shuffle, Logic-3’s iStation shuffle iPod speakers really stands out. The price is right at $50, it features a shuffle USB dock which charges your iPod when the system is on. You can listen to another source through the speakers as well using the line-in and –out jacks, and you can connect to a more powerful sound system at home if you want.

Not only portable, but transportable – Altec Lansing’s inMotion iM7 is a great choice for iPod speakers. Priced at $250, this product is great for taking your iPod and its speaker system to the beach or park. You can also add a shoulder harness for carrying the cylinder-shaped system.

Your iPod Made More Versatile

iPod speakers are wonderful for group gatherings. They can also make your iPod more convenient when you’re not on the go. If you are working at home, you don’t have to use headphones to listen to your music. Just put your iPod in the dock and turn it on. Enjoying your favorites is simple and fun.
