iPods are incredibly popular and will only increase in popularity over the next few years. More and more companies are realizing this and creating all kinds of wild and wacky iPod accessories. And as these items increase in availability, savvy shoppers can expect to find wholesale iPod accessories with a little exploration.
Shop the Internet for Wholesale iPod Accessories
Shopping is one of the highlights of the internet – it’s a worldwide shopping mall! It’s the perfect place to shop for wholesale iPod accessories because you can visit many sites and gather information and prices before making a purchase.
There are many sites available, but some are larger and more well-known than others. Wholesale Connection is one source you can explore, and other sites include Global Sources Direct, Giftware Index, and Day Deal. These are just a few of the sites available; you’ll want to do your own research too. Depending on what wholesale iPod accessory you are interested in, different vendors will offer competitive pricing and models.
Made for iPod Tax?
The emergence of so many third party retailers selling wholesale iPod accessories has not gone unnoticed by Apple Computer. The company announced a new “Made for iPod” program at the Macworld Expo in January 2005. They have also been trying to negotiate 10% of the wholesale pricing.
So far this Made for iPod program is targeting wholesale iPod accessories like car adapters, power cables and remote controls, while excluding things like iPod cases, which are more cosmetic in nature.
Currently there are over 400 wholesale iPod accessories on the market, and Apple’s concern is that consumers be able to choose products that work properly with their iPods and have a certain standard of quality. The logo would enable customers to have more confidence as they shop for wholesale iPod accessories.
Some smaller companies wonder if this Made for iPod program isn’t just a way for Apple to charge a licensing fee and make money off of “the little guys.” But the overwhelming opinion is that it really is more of a safeguard for consumers and not designed to hurt the sales of legitimate wholesale iPod accessory makers.
Since iPods outsell Macs, they have become critical to Apple’s success, and so the accessory market is bound to grow. Have fun shopping for your wholesale iPod accessories, but become an educated consumer first.
Strange but True
There are some pretty unusual wholesale iPod accessories out there if you look for them. For instance, you can buy a beautiful bed frame called Pause from DesignMobel that features an integrated iPod dock as well as a Bose speaker system. Another company came up with the iPod nano wallet, which looks just like a regular wallet until you spot the slot for your iPod (where your driver’s license used to go).
