Choose Your iPod Mp3
AUTHOR: Jamie Lee
The iPod just keeps getting better and better. It’s the finest way to listen to mp3s. With iTunes and other vendors continually increasing the selection available of all types of music, you literally have worldwide tunes at your fingertips.
An iPod mp3 player comes in several different models. The Apple website asks, “Which iPod are you?” because each iPod fits a different user’s preferences. Now in the fifth generation, the three main types to choose from are the iPod shuffle, the iPod nano, and the iPod (now with video capabilities). Within each category, there might be some color choices and some storage options. All three models have their own appeal, and they are all sleek, compact, and unique. How do you choose which iPod mp3 is right for you?
Your decision will be based partially on your preferences in terms of size, and partially on functionality. How will you use your iPod? If you’ll just be listening to music on the go, the iPod shuffle may be enough for you. If you want a bit more, the nano might be your iPod of choice. And if you really want it all, the iPod with video is the biggest of the small! Price too is a major consideration for most people. The iPod shuffle is the economical way to go, while the iPod at its biggest storage capacity is the luxury end.
Let’s take a look at some of the features of each iPod mp3 so you can decide which one fits you.
The iPod shuffle
The iPod shuffle is the smallest and least expensive of the iPod mp3 players. You can get a 512MB for a mere $69, while the 1GB retails for $99. Weighing less than an ounce, the shuffle is amazingly small – it’s literally smaller than a pack of gum.
This little iPod mp3 mixes things up in other ways too. It plays all your tunes randomly (hence the name “shuffle”) so you never know which of your 240 songs (1GB) you’ll hear next.
The iPod nano
This iPod mp3 player is larger than the iPod shuffle, but still pencil-thin. It comes in three versions: a 1GB that plays 240 songs, a 2GB that holds 500 songs, and a 4GB that stores an incredible 1000 songs. The price ranges from $149 for the 1GB and $199 for the 2GB to $249 for the 4GB. Color choices are white and black. The screen is clear and bright – and it displays the album cover of the song you’re playing. You can also carry photos, podcasts, and audiobooks.
The iPod
Last in the lineup is the primo iPod mp3 player, the iPod. It started out just playing music, then added the functionality of storing photos and podcasts, but now it offers the ability to play video. This literally changes the way you experience entertainment; it’s no longer just an iPod mp3 player, although it remains an awesome one.
The iPod comes in 30GB (which retails for $299) and 60GB (pricier at $399). This iPod mp3 player holds an mind-boggling amount of songs: 7500 on the 30GB model, and a whopping 15,000 on the 60GB model. Additionally it can also hold 25,000 photos and up to 150 hours of video! The 2.5 inch color display is so crisp and bright, you won’t even mind watching your favorite movies and TV episodes on a small screen.
Something for Everyone
An iPod mp3 player will enhance your life in many ways, no matter which iPod you choose. And remember – you can always have more than one!
